Adding a USB controller and a USB device

To add a USB controller in a virtual machine running Windows:

  1. Right-click the virtual machine and click Edit Settings.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Select USB Controller and click Next.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Disk Management.
  6. Right-click the USB disk and assign a letter.

To add a USB device:

  1. Right-click the virtual machine and click Edit Settings.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Select USB Device and click Next.
Note: To support vMotion, select Support vMotion while device is connected. For more information, see the Configuring USB Passthrough Devices for vMotion section of the vSphere Virtual Machine Administration Guide.
  1. Click OK.

Update
